Gauna Mohini Ekadashi falls on Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Vaishakh month. Ekadashi fast is taken on Dwadashi. It's mentioned that Lord Vishnu took the form of a siren to make the gods drink nectar on the time of ocean churning.

For this reason, this Ekadashi is named Gauna Mohini Ekadashi. It's believed that this Ekadashi removes all sins and provides salvation in the end. As a result of effect of this fast, man gets away from all miseries and finally goes to Baikuntha Dham.

On this day, Lord Vishnu should be worshiped with a sincere heart. In the night, remembering Shri Hari, one should perform Bhajan Kirtan. Remember the fact that this fast should follow the rules of fasting from Dashami Tithi.

Mohini Ekadashi Vrat Katha

There was a city named Bhadravati on the banks of the river Saraswati. Where there lived a Vaishya named Dhanapala, who was full of cash. He was always engaged in virtuous deeds. He had 5 sons. The smallest of those was arrogant.

He used to spend his father's cash in sinful deeds. One day, he was seen walking around the square, putting an arm around the city bride's neck. Angered by this, the father kicked him out of the house and the brothers-in-law also left him.

He wandered from day to night drowning in sorrow and grief. One day he reached the ashram of Maharishi Kaundilya with the influence of some virtue. It was the month of Vaishakh. Kaundilya came after taking bath in the Ganges. Munivar went to Kaundilya and mentioned with folded hands, Brahmin! Twilight! Have pity on me and tell someone such a fast, whose virtue can result in my liberation. '

Then Rishi Kaundilya told that in the bright fortnight of Vaishakh month, observe the famous Ekadashi named Mohini. The sins of many births are also destroyed by virtue of this fast. Dhritabuddhi fasted according to the method described by the sage. As a result of which he became sinless and took the divine body and went to Sri Vishnudham.
