Story of Bhadrapada Purnima

According to mythological texts, once upon a time, eighty-eight thousand sages on the Naimisharanya shrine asked Puranveta Maharishi Sreesut ji, O Maharishi, in this Kaliyuga without Vedas, without knowledge, how will the beings be saved? Is there any simple solution for this so that they can get the desired result.

On this, Maharishi Sut said that, O sages, a similar question was once asked by Narada to Lord Vishnu. Then I am repeating the method that Shri Vishnu himself had told to Narad ji. Lord Vishnu had told Narada that there is only one way in this world to get rid of worldly afflictions, worldly happiness and prosperity and finally to reach the supreme abode and that is Satyanarayan Vrat i.e. conduct of truth, one’s loyalty to truth, insistence on truth.

Truth is the form of God and the name of that form is truth. To worship God while following the truth is to worship Him. Explaining its importance, he told a story that there was a humble Brahmin named Shatananda, who used to beg for alms to support himself and his family. But he was also loyal to the truth. Always practicing the truth and observing the fast, he worshiped Lord Satyanarayan according to the law. After which, while enjoying happiness in this world, he attained salvation at the last moment.

Lord Satyanarayan should be worshipped and we should observe fast while following the truth. If we do not worship Lord Satyanarayana, then we should never disregard him and should never make fun of the worship being done by others and should take prasad with reverence.
