Story of the birth of Lord Dattatreya:

According to the legend, once the three goddesses became pleased with their Sativa, the husband faith. Then Lord Vishnu created Leela. Then Narada Ji visited all of the three worlds and praised Anasuya's virtuous religion before Goddess Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati. On this, the three goddesses stubbornly asked their husbands to test Anusuya's husband's religion.

Then Trudev disguised as a Brahmin, reached the ashram of Maharishi Atri, then Maharishi Atri was not at home. Seeing the three Brahmins, Anasuya went to them. When she proceeded to pay respect to these Brahmins, these Brahmins stated that they might not accept their hospitality till they would sit and feed them on their lap.

Anasuya became worried about his condition. Then he came to know the truth of those Brahmins along with his tapobal. After remembering Lord Vishnu and her husband Atri, she stated that if her husband's religion is true, then all three Brahmins should grow to be 6-month-old infants. Anasuya made the Tridevas infants along with his Tapobal.

All three started crying as infants. Then Ansuya took them into his lap and made them milk and put all of them in the cradle. However, the three goddesses were worried about their husbands not coming again. Then Narada Ji instructed him the entire incident. After this, the three goddesses have been very sorry for what that they had done. These three goddesses apologized to Anasuya and requested to bring their husbands to the original form.

Then Anasuya re-instated these three infants as her predecessors from her Tapobal. Then Tridev asked him to ask for the bride, then Anasuya requested for the groom to get those three gods in the form of a son. Tridev gave him a boon and went to his abode.

Later, Lord Vishnu was born as Lord Vishnu Dattatreya, Lord Shiva Durvasa, and Brahma Moon from the womb of Mother Anasuya. Someplace it is also learned that after attaining the groom, Lord Dattatreya appeared within the single form of Trideva from the womb of Mata Anasuya, therefore, it's stated that worshiping Lord Dattatreya brings blessings of the trinity.
