Sawan Somvar Vrat Katha : Story of Sawan Somvar

Once upon a time, a moneylender lived in a city. There was no shortage of money in his house but he had no children and due to this, he was very sad. He used to fast every Monday to get a son and worshiped Lord Shiva and Parvati Ji with full devotion. Seeing her devotion, one day Maa Parvati was pleased and requested Lord Shiva to fulfill the wishes of that money lender. Hearing the wish of Parvati Ji, Lord Shiva said that 'O Parvati, every creature in this world gets the fruits of his deeds and whose fate is bound to be suffered.' Expressed his desire to fulfill his wish.

On the request of mata Parvati Shivaji gave a boon to the moneylender however he additionally mentioned that the age of his little one will probably be solely twelve years the moneylender was listening to the dialog of goddess Parvati and lord shiva. He was neither glad nor unhappy about this he continued to worship shiva as earlier than after a while a son was born to the moneylender when that little one was eleven years previous he was sent to Kashi to study.  The moneylender called the maternal uncle of the son and gave him some good cash and stated that you simply take this little one to achieve Kashi vidya and carry out yajna on the way in which wherever you perform the yajna go there giving meals to the brahmins and giving Dakshina.

Both uncles and nephews would perform yajna in an identical manner and donate Dakshina to brahmins and went in direction of Kashi there was a metropolis in the evening the place the daughter of the king of the town was married. But the prince he was about to marry was kana with one eye the prince considered a plan to cover the truth that his son didn't have sight in a single eye seeing the moneylender's son a thought came to his mind He thought why not make this boy a bride and marry the princess. After marriage, I will give it away and will take the princess to her city. The boy was married to the princess wearing the groom's clothes. But the moneylender's son was honest. He did not find this to be justified. He took the chance and wrote on the foot of the princess's sardine 'you're married to me however the prince with whom you can be sent is kana with one eye I'm going to learn Kashi

When the princess read the words written on the chunni, she told her parents this. The king did not leave his daughter, leaving the procession back. On the other hand, the moneylender's boy and his maternal uncle reached Kashi and went there and performed a yagna a yajna was performed on the day the boy was 12 years of age the boy informed his maternal uncle that my well being isn't proper. Mama said that you go inside and sleep. According to Shiva's boon, the child's life came out in a while. Seeing the dead nephew, his maternal uncle started mourning. Incidentally at the same time, Shiva and Mata Parvati were going from there. Parvati said to God- Swami, I cannot bear to cry its cry. You must overcome this person's suffering.

When Shivji approached the dead boy, he said that he is the son of the same moneylender, whom I gave a boon at the age of 12. Now its age is over. But mother Parvati stated that please Mahadev please give extra age to this baby in any other case its mother and father may even die in isolation on the insistence of mata Parvati lord shiva granted the boy the boon of being alive.  By the grace of Shiva, that boy turned alive after ending schooling the boy went to his metropolis with a maternal uncle the 2 walked to the identical metropolis the place he was married he additionally performed a yajna in that city. The boy's father-in-law recognized him and took him to the palace and took care of him and said goodbye to his daughter.

Here the moneylender and his wife were hungry and thirsty waiting for their son. He pledged that if he got the news of his son's death, he too would give up his life, but he was very happy to hear that his son was alive. The same night Lord Shiva came in the dream of the merchant and said - O superior, I have given a long life to your son, pleased with your Monday fast and listening to the fast. Similarly, anyone who observes a fast on Monday or listens to and recites the story, all his sufferings are removed and all wishes are fulfilled.
