Republic Day: What History Says

This nearly 2-decade-old journey was conceived as a dream in 1930, and the valiant revolutionaries of India realized it as a republic in 1950. Since then India was created as a secular and democratic nation and a historic event was realized.

In the midnight of 31 December 1929, during the Lahore conference of the (INC)Indian National Congress, an initiative was made to make the nation independent. The session was presided over by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. All the revolutionaries available in the meeting took an oath to make India a historic initiative on the 26th  of January 1930 as 'Independence Day' to liberate India from British government rule and realize full independence. Those knights of India tried their best to meet their goals and India became a truly independent country.

After that on 9th  December 1946 first meeting of  (INC)Indian Constituent Assembly was held, in which Indian leaders and the British Cabinet Mission participated. There were many discussions, recommendations, and debates about giving India a constitution. After various amendments the Indian Constitution was officially finalized which was officially adopted after 3 years i.e. on the 26th of November 1949.

By hoisting the Indian National Flag after a 21-gun salute Dr. Rajendra Prasad announced the birth of the Indian republic. 894 days after we got rid of the British rule, our country became an independent state.

Although India had become an independent nation on 15 August 1947, but expressed as the 26th of Jan 1950. The national flag was hoisted by going to the Irvine Stadium and thus the Indian Constitution came into effect as a republic.
