Shravana Amavasya is considered a very auspicious day for Pitru Puja. Shravan Amavasya will be celebrated on no moon day of Saravana month. Shravan Amavasya is also called Hariyali Amavasya. On this day people tend to worship Lord Shiva. Shravan Amavasya blesses the devotees with good fortune, prosperity and sound wealth. People also pray for the blessings of their ancestors. Special meals are cooked on this day and offered to the Brahmins.
