Magha Amavasya (also known as Maghi Amavasya) fall in the Hindu month of Magha. Magha amavasya is the day of Maun Vrat. Mauni Vrat means the person observing the Vrat cannot utter even a single word. It is the most difficult form of fasting. On this day is performing Pitru Puja (ancestral worship). Offering food to animals, diseased people is considered highly beneficial. Offering Til oil to Shani dev is also very auspicious on this day.
