Jivitputrika Vrat is a festival in which Nirjala fasting is done throughout a day and night observed by mothers for the wellbeing of their children. This fast is observed on Ashwin Krishna Ashtami and it is celebrated on the next day. This fast is also known by the name of Jitiya or Giutia or Jeevaputrikaika Vrat. This fast is especially observed by women.
