Yama Deepam is also known as Dhanteras. Yama Deepam is a small lamp (Diya). On this day worship Lord Yama. This festival that marks the beginning of the Diwali celebration and therefore it is considered the first day long festivities of Diwali. On the day of Dhanatrayodashi the flows of Yama frequencies are active in the Universe. The following day of Dhanteras that is 14th day of the Kartik month, came to be known as the day of “Yamadeepdaan” and an earthen lamp is kept burning throughout the night of Chaturdashi glorifying Yama, the God of Death.
