'Makar Sankranti' is a famous festival of Hindus. Makar Sankranti, also known as the Kite festival, is a popular Hindu festival. It is known as Maghi in Punjab. In Uttar Pradesh, the festival is known as ‘Khichiri’. In Gujarat and Rajasthan, the festival is known as Uttarayan. It is celebrated in several parts of India and also in some other parts. Makar-sankrant generally falls on 14th January every year. This festival is the one of the few chosen Indian Hindu festivals which has a fixed date.
